Job Summary
The Production Supervisor oversees all daily operations of their assigned shift, including production and manufacturing activities, while ensuring all company policies and procedures are followed. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining processes that maximize safety, quality, productivity, and overall production performance to exceed customer expectations. The position reports to the Manager, Production Technology Team.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise and lead the daily operations of the assigned production shift.
- Ensure team members adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Arrive 15 minutes before shift start and remain as needed to complete tasks and ensure a smooth handoff.
- Provide direction, support, coaching, and performance feedback to production staff.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance at all times.
- Ensure employees are properly trained in safety procedures and equipment use.
- Immediately address unsafe behaviors or conditions and escalate issues when necessary.
- Conduct and document safety talks, audits, and incident follow-up as required.
Production Management
- Plan and establish daily work schedules, staffing assignments, and production sequences to meet output goals.
- Monitor operations, workflow, and equipment to ensure production standards for quality and efficiency are met.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues quickly to minimize downtime.
- Review work orders, production schedules, charts, and reports to maintain awareness of operational priorities.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all product quality standards and specifications are consistently met.
- Monitor processes and operators to guarantee adherence to quality procedures.
- Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams to address nonconformities or process issues.
Training & Development
- Conduct training for new and existing employees on equipment, processes, and safety procedures.
- Assign experienced employees to train or mentor others when appropriate.
- Identify skill gaps and coordinate with HR or management for additional training needs.
Resource & Inventory Management
- Communicate material, equipment, and supply needs to the Manager or appropriate department.
- Ensure accurate reporting of material usage and production data.
- Support proper equipment care, preventive maintenance, and repair requests.
Collaboration & Communication
- Coordinate activities with other departments, including Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Warehouse.
- Facilitate effective shift handoffs, including clear communication of issues, progress, and priorities.
- Participate in production meetings and provide updates on shift performance, challenges, and improvement goals.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance safety, productivity, and quality.
- Support implementation of lean manufacturing practices, 5S, and other improvement initiatives.
- Track performance metrics and assist in root cause analysis when targets are not met.

Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ year’s experience or equivalent in a production, manufacturing or operations environment.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, safety-focused industrial setting.
Skills
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of production processes, equipment, and workflow.
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, charts, and related documentation.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, production software, or ERP systems).
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
Safety & Compliance
- Solid understanding of workplace safety practices, OSHA standards, and sanitation requirements.
- Ability to identify and address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Familiarity with quality systems and regulatory compliance relevant to the industry.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, guide, and develop employees.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to coordinate across departments.

- Ability to work extended hours as needed, including arriving early and staying after shift for handoff or issue resolution.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining production and quality standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, or be on the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, or perform other physical tasks as required by the environment.
- Comfortable working in manufacturing conditions (temperature variations, PPE requirements, machinery noise)
Schedule
- Ability to work 12 hour shifts; rotating schedule of Seven (7) days on/Seven (7) days off
- Two (2) positions available for night shift. Night shift does receive a $2/hour shift differential
