Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of mechanical, preventive, and process maintenance tasks to ensure reliable operation of plant equipment and utilities. This position bridges the skills of a traditional millwright with process system maintenance, focusing heavily on mechanical repair, rotating equipment, and safe support of production operations in a manufacturing environment.

General Accountabilities

· Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, gearboxes, and rotating process equipment.

· Install, align, and maintain mechanical systems including piping, valves, seals, and couplings.

· Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical failures in production and utility systems.

· Support process maintenance activities including filter changes, tank and line cleaning, and equipment rebuilds.

· Read and interpret mechanical drawings, and P&IDs to safely perform maintenance and modifications.

· Fabricate or modify parts and components using hand tools, grinders, welders, and cutting torches as needed.

· Work closely with engineering, production, and EHS to ensure maintenance tasks meet safety, quality, and environmental requirements.

· Assist with installation and commissioning of new production equipment and process systems.

· Document maintenance activities in CMMS or work order system with clear, accurate detail.

· Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and other safety procedures at all times.

· Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance and process areas.

Job Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certificate preferred.

· Minimum 3–5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, millwright, or mechanical repair.

· Experience in chemical, automotive, or process manufacturing strongly preferred.

Skills

· Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot rotating and process equipment.

· Knowledge of pumps, motors, seals, valves, pneumatics, hydraulics, and bearings.

· Familiarity with process piping, flanges, gaskets, and mechanical connections.

· Ability to safely operate welders, grinders, hoists, and precision measuring tools.

· Basic understanding of electrical systems and instrumentation a plus.

· CMMS or computerized maintenance system experience preferred.

· Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs, and technical drawings.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces.

· Work in both indoor and outdoor environments with varying temperatures.
